THE BRIEF

Hey all, it’s MMV.

I ran a simple poll on Instagram this week:

“Do you feel satisfied or fulfilled at work?”

I asked this because I’m at a crossroads with the next step of my career and nearly 200 people responded!

The reason I’m at a crossroads is that I think my work is easy, but annoying (because I have to go into the office no matter what my workload looks like) so this is pushing me to look for opportunities outside my current career track and to find something else that I can feel fulfillment from.

My last newsletter post was inspired from how I currently feel - too comfortable in my current position. I feel like I outgrew my position and am just looking for the next role. I’m not sure if I want to continue in this career track, even though it’s easy.

I even asked those who felt fulfilled to share what they do and those who didn’t to share which careers they’d advise others to avoid.

The data is shocking..

My first MMV Pro newsletter post is going out later this week!

This post will spotlight a friend who followed my social media account for years and we connected due to our similar background.

He’s a current United States Space Force reservist (previously active duty Air Force officer) and a new federal employee who accumulated a net worth of over $2,000,000 during his time serving in the military while being the sole breadwinner in his family.

With Pro Membership, along with this upcoming post, you’ll gain access to my Personal Finance Dashboard to track your finances, real-life case studies, guest interviews, and exclusive AMAs.

In early 2026, I plan to launch a community forum and mini-courses hosted on my website for Pro members and maybe a meet-and-greet in the DC area if enough people are interested!

🧑‍🔬👨🏻‍💻 What the Data Shows About Job Fulfillment

A total of 194 people responded to the poll. I can’t say that I’m surprised with the results.

Here are the numbers:

  • 60 people (or 31% of respondents) said that they feel satisfied or fulfilled with their job.

  • 134 people (69% of respondents) said they don’t feel satisfied or fulfilled with their job.

31% feel satisfied/fulfilled and 69% don’t

I can’t say I’m surprised because a large majority of my audience probably follow my account because of this reason - we’re all in this pursuit of financial independence driven by the fact that we may be stuck in a job we don’t enjoy because we need the income.

A way to make the situation better can be to get a new job that you can better tolerate but that alternative may come with a lower salary so that’s not always feasible.

A good amount of people did in fact feel satisfied or fulfilled with their job so I wanted to compile a list of occupations for those people as well as the people who were not satisfied.

Heads up, the list is long!

3 Tricks Billionaires Use to Help Protect Wealth Through Shaky Markets

“If I hear bad news about the stock market one more time, I’m gonna be sick.”

We get it. Investors are rattled, costs keep rising, and the world keeps getting weirder.

So, who’s better at handling their money than the uber-rich?

Have 3 long-term investing tips UBS (Swiss bank) shared for shaky times:

  1. Hold extra cash for expenses and buying cheap if markets fall.

  2. Diversify outside stocks (Gold, real estate, etc.).

  3. Hold a slice of wealth in alternatives that tend not to move with equities.

The catch? Most alternatives aren’t open to everyday investors

THE BRIEF CONTINUED
Recommended Careers for Fulfillment

This isn’t a “true” list of careers if you’re in it for fulfillment. The feeling of fulfillment can stem for different reasons based on a person’s drive and interest.

This list is only to represent the people who selected that they feel fulfilled with their work in the poll. If there’s a parenthesis with a number, that means multiple people input the same answer.

Here are the jobs or fields of work that my audience feels fulfilled with:

  1. Registered Nurse (3)

  2. Interior Design Manager for a model merchandising firm

  3. Physical Therapy

  4. Procurement Agent for a UAV company

  5. Clinical Research (industry/CRO side)

  6. Army Marketing (wtf is this?!)

  7. Mortgage

  8. Consumer Products (must be cool stuff)

  9. Product Management

  10. Software Engineer

  11. Anti-money launder/fraud Investigator

  12. Cybersecurity / Cyber Operations (3)

  13. Pilot (4)

  14. Education

  15. Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA)

  16. Coal Mine Welder Mechanic (3 blue collar titles in one 🤣)

  17. Perfusionist (I had to look this up but they’re highly trained cardiovascular surgical team members who operate heart-lung machines, temporarily taking over a patient's breathing and circulation during open-heart surgery, transplants, and critical care)

  18. Stay at home parent (this counts!)

  19. Healthcare

  20. Sales

  21. Data Scientist (2)

  22. Machine Learning Engineer

  23. Dentist

  24. Real Estate Development

  25. Wealth Management

  26. Accountant (you must love math)

  27. Building Construction

  28. Supply Chain

  29. Logistics (Air Freight)

  30. Line Construction

  31. “Consulting lmao” - I love how this person laughed too

  32. Army Officer

  33. Product Strategy in AI dev tools

  34. Cybersecurity in tech/gaming

  35. Firefighter

  36. EMT

  37. Teaching drones to soldiers for a defense contractor (whoa..)

  38. Market Risk

  39. Nonprofit Hospital CFO

  40. Process Engineer in personal care/cosmetics industry

  41. Government Contracts

I love how diverse this audience is! I admire a lot of these occupations and I can imagine why people feel fulfilled. And then there are some jobs where I’m confused how you like it 🤣

All kidding aside, this reinforces that everyone is different. One job may be a pain in the as* to someone and a joy to another so don’t take this list as gospel.

Recommended Careers to Avoid

When I saw this list, I immediately recognized jobs that were on the “good” list. If a job has a "lol”, it means it’s also mentioned in the list above.

Here are the jobs or fields of work that my audience recommends avoiding:

  1. Air Traffic Control

  2. Healthcare (4 lol)

  3. Physical therapy (lol)

  4. Real Estate (lol)

  5. Government (3 lol) - I understand this

  6. Teaching “only people with true hearts of gold can do it”

  7. Army Staff Officer (staff life seems boring - I never got the chance to be staff because I was so important)

  8. Big Tech (the golden age of Big Tech is over)

  9. Operations Finance

  10. EMS (lol)

  11. Advertising

  12. Nonprofits (lol)

  13. Consulting (2 lol)

  14. Supply Chain (lol)

  15. Information Technology because of AI

  16. Research Scientist

  17. Defense Contractor

  18. Logistics (lol)

  19. Concrete

  20. Army Officer (lol)

  21. Registered Nurse (lol)

  22. Sales Operations

  23. Corporate Healthcare

  24. Ultrasound

  25. Tax Accounting / Audit (lol)

  26. Pharmacy

  27. UPS Driver or anything at UPS

Now, there are a WHOLE LOT of other people who said they do feel fulfilled at work. I had more responses from the “happy” side. What I excluded were comments that people left with their answer.

It’s less about the job/career and more about management and leadership.

You could have the most amazing job, the one you dreamed of, but if your boss is an as* and a power-hungry supervisor, that dream job could instantly turn into a nightmare.

People don’t leave jobs, they leave managers.
